Sapienza Human Rights Award

From the 2013-2014 academic year , the Second Level Master introduced the Sapienza Human Rights Awards with the aim of awarding people who, during their career, stood out for the effort and the contribution in the field of human rights. The event is associated to the annual presentation of the Master, after which the Director presents the motivations for the prize and gives a commemorative plaque.

 

On 12 December 2018, on the occasion of the presentation of the XVIII edition of the Master in International Protection of Human Rights "Maria Rita Saulle", the XXVIII edition of the training course on refugees and migrants and the second edition of the advanced training course on "The role of women in peace processes and conflict mediation for the protection of human rights ", the Sapienza Human Rights Awards 2018 were delivered to Silvia Fernandez De Gurmendi, former President of the International Criminal Court, and to the Interministerial Committee for Human Rights ( CIDU), due to their commitment to the protection and promotion of human rights.

On December 17, 2019, the presentation of the XIX ed. Was held in the Sala Collegiali della Sapienza. of the Master in International Protection of Human Rights "Maria Rita Saulle", of the III ed. of the Advanced Training Course on "The role of women in peace processes and conflict mediation for the protection of human rights" and XXIX ed. of the training course on refugees and migrants, the theme of which this year will be "Refugees, stateless persons and forced migrants: the new frontiers of international protection".

On the same occasion, the ceremony for the awarding of the Sapienza Human Rights Awards 2019 took place. This year the award was awarded to Prof. Sergio Marchisio, for his contribution to the progressive development of international human rights law, for the promotion of study and teaching of human rights, for a professional life dedicated to the concrete realization of international cooperation and its constitutive values.

In the occasion of the presentation of the seventeenth edition of the Master in International Protection of Human Rights "Maria Rita Saulle", of the twentyseventh edition of the Training Course on refugees and migrants and of the first edition of the Advancend Training Course on "The role of women in the peace process and in the mediation of conflicts for the protection of human rights", on the 5th december 2017, Prof. Flavia Lattanzi and the Istituto di ricerche internazionli "Archivio Disarmo" have been awarded the Sapienza Human Rights Awards.

The presentation of the Sixteenth edition of the Master in Internationa Protection of Human Rights "MariaRita Saulle" and the twentysixth edition of the Multidisciplinary Training Course on Refugees and Migrants took place on 15th December 2016 at Aula Organi Collegiali.

During the presentation, Prof. Fausto Pocar and the Unione forense per la tutela dei diritti umani, represented by its President Anton Giulio Lana, have been awarded the Sapienza Human Rights Awards.

The presentation of the Master on International Human Rights Protection "Maria Rita Saulle", at its 15th edition, and the Multidisciplinary Training Course on Refugee and Migrants, at its twentyfifth edition, took place on 14th December 2015, at the Sala degli Organi collegiali.
